If you’re like me those memories of grandmas house are filled with so many unforgettable aromas. One of my favorites was the smell of a sauce that had been simmering all day. So what is homemade Italian spaghetti sauce, for me it’s a base sauce that allows you to add your favorite ingredients; beef, sausage, mushrooms etc.. I like to start most of my recipes with some oil, minced garlic and onions simmering in a pan.
Once the onions and garlic start to brown we just start adding everything else and the beauty here is that order doesn’t really matter. Add all the sauces and spices and cover it up. The longer you let this simmer the better it taste. I like to let simmer for at least 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
